Ugandan
music could be heading for the 67th Grammy Awards happening in February next
year. The good news is that Ugandan singer Zani Lady C who is currently based
in the US submitted her song titled Komawo and fingers are crossed that she
might be lucky to be considered for a nomination by the Recording Academy, a
partner of the Grammy Awards.
The
song Komawo is one of Zani’s latest songs that she did in the space of last
year and the moment when the internet resurrected her classic Charles Yimirira
Awo. Zani Lady C is the voice behind songs like Ndoowa, Golo Golo,
Nzembiteleza, Maria, Komawo, Charles Yimirira Awo, Chimalo and Nindako among
others.

Zani Lady C submitted the song
titled Komawo for a nomination in the category of Best African Music
Performance. After releasing the list of those considered for nominations, the
Grammy’s team confirmed that they will be announcing the nominees on November
8th and the awards will take place on February 2nd 2025 at the Cryto.com Arena
in Los Angeles.
At the 65th Grammy Awards,
Singer Eddy Kenzo got nominated for his song titled Gimme Love that featured
American Singer Matt B. The song was nominated in the category of Best Global
Music performance and they face competition from different African Artistes
like Burna Boy, Arooj Aftab and Anoushka Shankar,Rocky Dawuni ,Bayethe Wouter
Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode. Kenzo lost the award to Wouter
Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode from South Africa.
